Outfit Formula Series #1
Over the next few weeks as we head into the holiday season I am excited to show you some of my favorite outfit formulas. Not only do I want to empower you to get dressed throughout the tireless busy season, I want to inspire you to get outside of your comfort zone and maybe try something new. Whatever your style may be, as long as you grasp a few simple formulas you can easily rotate your clothes and come up with some really good outfits. All you have to do is put your spin on it, ie color, pattern, personality and styling!
One of my favorite everyday formulas
Let’s start with one of my favorite everyday outfit formulas: Top + Cropped Jeans + Flats. Scroll down and check out the different tops I like to wear within this formula! Instead of feeding you a few independent outfits, I am sticking with the same pieces and adding things here and there to show you how to build a cohesive wardrobe.
Top (sweater) + cropPed JEans + flats
Here we have a sweater that isn't super long or super short. It has a drop sleeve, so it appears slightly oversized and cool. Any cropped jean with shape (straight, barrel or horseshoe is my preference these days). And mary janes or any slim flat really. Click on the collages to be directed to links and more comments on styling.
Top (cotton layer) + cropPed JEans + flat
Here we have the best layer: the Uniqlo waffle shirt. Pair with jeans that have shape. Layer a warm neck sweater over the trench. A good bag and your jewelry uniform.
Top (Button Down) + cropPed JEans + flat
The top: an oversized button down in a nuetral stripe. Pair with cropped jeans with shape and a feminine slim flat. Keep it simple. The way to make it feel a little more fun is to go for a light pinstripe shirt like you see here. I own this one and love.
