Office Capsule: Pull-On Flare

It’s not often that I come across a pant that looks amazing on different body types. Similarly, it’s rare to see black pants that aren’t boring. And I think we can all agree that it’s hard to find a pair of pants that are both comfortable and polished. Well, the perfect pants have arrived and found their way into my office capsule! Meet the Apiece Apart Rene Pull-On Pant.

The budget friendly option

So, the budget friendly option is from Quince. This brand makes a ton of good stuff at lower price points. I understand that not everyone wants to buy a pair of pants for hundreds of dollars, unless you plan on buying one or two pairs and wearing them all the time (cough cough). So many women buy endless pairs of black pants and end up spending the same amount of money only to wear one pair repeatedly. Haven’t too much of one thing creates overwhelm and waste!

The petite sitch

Many of my clients are petite (5”3” and under). Initially they balk at the idea of a cropped pant because longer pants lengthen. Yes this is true, but showing your ankle also lengthens especially when styled with a slimmer shoe or a shoe that doesn’t contrast with the pant (in this case, a dark shoe would be good). The Quince pair is a 24” inseam, which is a good length for many petites who want a cropped look. Measure from your crotch to an inch above your ankle and take note of your inseam. This will save you mucho time and it will help your tailor bc if you’re a petite you spend a lot of time tailoring your clothes).

The Comfort Factor

Both pants have zero buttons, a thick fabrication and tons of stretch. It’s like the comfort trifecta. A thick knit provides the structure I always refer to and subconsciously puts (think shape wear). The pull-on sitch is a no brainer because who wants a button or a zipper if you don’t need it?

Work and play factor

Both pants are work and weekend friendly. I personally love the exposed front seam of the Apiece Apart because tiny details always elevate. I can see these with loafers, ballet flats, a cute mule, a kitten heel boot, a kitten heel sling back, a pump, a dressy heeled sandal and the list goes on. I probably wouldn’t do a sneaker because that’s pushing it a bit.
